![]() I'm glad I bought it half-price nonetheless, although Deus Ex full-price is something I don't regret at all. The level design is quite nice, however - it looks like someone's thought out what an advanced starship should be like.The plot's turning out to be a bit predictable too, with some very obvious errors - (i) the crew doesn't do anything when a senior exec & officers start very obviously going nuts ? Don't believe it.(ii) Willing to bet Polito isn't the helpful lady she's trying to be.(iii) Why am I running about with a pistol and a wrench when I could, say, find an air-tight compartment, and open the rest of the ship to vacuum from a command centre, thereby killing all the bio-goop aboard ?I do/don't like SS2. Your character moves really quite slowly as well, which makes the VB's corridors seem overly long. Collecting chemicals for research is a serious pain too - some storage lockers so far don't have what I need, and trailing back to them every now and again is needlessly boring. It just seems to take a long long time to get used to the environment as a whole - the re-spawning bad guys are a big pain, especially if you trip an alarm, as is the deteriorating-weapon aspect (er, who'd design a pistol that craps out after about 3 clips ?). To be fair, you can run full-tilt into them from behind and they don't notice until you clobber them. The bad guys approach almost totally silently, and tend to appear right when you're doing the fiddly pick-up manuever with your inventory. SS2, though an RPG, is still quite linear in places - go here, do that, collect this, go back again.I'm about 4 hours into SS2 on the normal difficulty level, and the learning curve is extremely steep. ![]() ![]() Deus Ex's storyline was terrific, I thought, as was the freedom to do more or less what you liked. ![]() It's playable now at 1024x768 with a 750Mhz Athlon. I initially hated SS2 after playing the demo (p2-350 + V3 3K 800圆00x16 = painfully slow = cack game engine (Thief, yes ?)). ![]()
